My Organic Garden

November 2005
Well, I didn't plant these, but aren't these some cool mushrooms that came up on their own? I hope to have photos of peas, arugula, and lettuce for you next time (next year).

September 2005
It may be crazy to have planted corn in late August, but we'll see what happens. The cactus is doing great! I have been so busy that I have not recently cut the new leaves to eat. In Spanish the leaves are called nopales and they are delicious in any language!

July 2005 - first 2 shots  are of the garden at a distance and then closer. I love being in it. The cucumbers and zucchini are delicious! I love to dig in the dirt and pull weeds. See the solar panels that supply all our electricity?

Then comes the cantaloupe (no fruit yet) and the kobacha squash

and the crook neck squash and the zucchini

next the cucumber and the parsley

and finally the beautiful scarlet runner beans
And that's the story as of July 12, 2005!

April 2005 - in the 2 photos below you see my prolific swiss chard and my giant compost pile.

March 2004 - Just getting ready to plant seeds.

November 2004 - Not yet!

October 2004 - Well, this page is updated, but I have done nothing with the garden as we dedicate all our time to recreating our 1910 home. Maybe next month!!! :)

August 2004 - Beautiful horseradish! I've never grown it before. I look forward to tasting it. It will be great in salad dressings!

July 10, 2025 - Things and looking up and growing up in my garden!!!

April 18, 2025 - Well, it is the same story here as with the remodeling of our new home ... no developments. I've trapped 12 gophers which have been frozen and then passed on to a friend who trains hawks. Good food for the birds. I've put in 6 fence posts for the garden and now am in the process of pulling the posts out to put in concrete piers so the wood won't rot so fast. I've got seeds planted; scarlet runner beans, kobacha squash, zucchini, corn, tomatoes and more. Should have pictures next month.

My son, Kenn, and I have been working on our organic vegetable garden for 2002. I love to grow vegetables. I like digging in the dirt. I like pulling weeds. I love to watch the plants grow. Growing food is so simple and peaceful and complete. It is a pleasure to prepare meals with our own produce!

These pictures are from June 20, 2025 at our home in Oak View.
