Books on Health

If you are really interested in being aware and involved with your own health, you would be wise to read an excellent book on health at least every year (or every 6 months, or every 3 months). Obviously, we tend to read about things that interest us. Often, health is a background interest, as contrasted with an active interest like golf (no, I don't happen to golf) or grandkids (YES; http://rgeraci.net/kids.html ). It is critical that we realized that our health dictates whether or not we can golf, and whether or not we live long enough to enjoy our grandkids. So let's put the horse in front of the cart and get excited and active about being healthy, that way, we may be able to do other important things like being active, engaged participants in the world that we are creating.

As a little-known doctor and philosopher of the 20th and 21st centuries once said; "When you finish reading your 100th entertaining fiction book, what have you got? Vague memories of a lot of fun stuff. When you finish reading your first excellent book on health you are left with new direction and appreciation for the role that you can play in creating the power of health in your self, your family, and the world in which you live. So keep the fun stuff, but remember that there is no fun without health!" [1]

Note: Reading books on health should be very interesting, not boring. If you are bored with the book you are reading, you either picked poorly, or you haven't given much thought to how your body works, how your body gets sick, and how valuable your health is.

OK, here's my short list of great books on health:
-
The 20-Day Rejuvenation Diet Program by Jeffrey Bland, PhD
-Detoxification & Healing by Sidney Baker, MD
-Genetic Nutritioneering by Jeffrey Bland, PhD
These books can be  purchased at our office, or ordered online at: http://www.functionalmedicine.org/bookstore/bookstore.asp
